What is the Cell Phone Safety Discount?
By choosing not to text and drive, Good2Go Auto Insurance Cell Phone Safety Discount gives you 5% off of your bodily injury, property damage, and collision coverage per vehicle when you install a text blocking device in your car.
What are the benefits of this discount?
Teenagers and young adults are more likely to text and drive when behind the wheel which has serious consequences. Here are some disturbing texting and driving statistics:
- You are two times more likely to crash or near-crash your car when you text and drive.²
- Half of all U.S. high school students text or send emails while driving.³
- In 2011, 1,000 deaths and 24,000 injuries involved the use of a cell phone.4
Parents who are concerned about the safety of their children will benefit from this discount by protecting their young driver when they are on the road and by paying less for car insurance.
How do I get the discount?
To qualify for this discount, you will need to install a text blocking device in your vehicle and provide a copy of your receipt via fax, email or postal service.
What are text blocking devices?
Text blocking devices are pieces of equipment that prevent the use of distracting cell phone functions while the vehicle is in motion. They mainly block text messages, email, and Internet browsing, but may also include other distracting mobile applications and outgoing phone calls. Depending on the device, incoming and outgoing phone calls are permitted as well as multiple hands-free options. They typically only affect the driver’s cell phone, allowing other passengers to use their cell phones normally. Emergency features such as 911 are always available.
You must make sure that the device you are using is a text blocker and not a cell phone blocker, jammer or scrambler. Cell phone blockers, jammers, and scramblers are illegal because they send out disruptive radio frequencies that block all calls from all cell phones in the area including law enforcement and emergency services.
What text blocking devices can I use?
